Take part in our e-mail campaign to Barack Obama

The inauguration of Barack Obama sees change come to the United States.
President Obama has spoken up for Tibet in the past, criticising the crackdowns on peaceful protests in Tibet in March 2008 and praising the Dalai Lama when the Tibetan spiritual leader was awarded the US Congressional Gold Medal in 2007.

Don't turn your back on Tibet

Since widespread protests erupted in Tibet earlier this year, the country has been under a military lockdown, with tightened restrictions on communications flow and monasteries and nunneries under constant surveillance. It is impossible to confirm the number of those who have disappeared or are in detention but it is believed to be over a thousand. With the Olympics over we must makes sure the world does not turn its back on Tibet.

Stand with the Dalai Lama

During the Tibetan spiritual leader's visit to the UK in May this year, hundreds of people took part in our slideshow petition, standing with the Dalai Lama, and asking Gordon Brown to stand up for Tibet.
You can see the slideshow and join in my photoshopping a photo of yourself with the Dalai Lama, or standing next to a picture of His Holiness. Better still, you can write to your local MP, asking them to push Mr. Brown to stand with the Dalai Lama and stand up for Tibet.
